Polished Concrete

The series entitled polished concrete speaks to the battle of self-acceptance and identity which has become so revolving in today’s society.

The series depicts nudes in varying degrees of distortion and abstraction displaying the struggle we all go through to find our sense of self within the confines of social norms enforced upon us.

Moving away from polished concrete, Finding our own true organic form.

Hobson’s idea is that beauty lies within the mistakes, within the cracks, the broken textures and the hidden. Her intention is to show there is beauty in rawness, strength from struggle, and that the sketchy lines and rough textures of a person may be imperfect, but should be appreciated.

Hobson’s earthy color palette has been taken from the coastline, shells, and corals. To bring calmness into each painting

Titles such as Philia were taken from ancient Greek Love. The form from this ongoing seriesĀ  ‘polished concrete’ represents the unearthed feelings of emotions.
